Peach-based eats and a cocktail mix-off
The East Atlanta Farmers Market was transformed into a peach-lover's paradise this week for the debut of Peach Jam, an event that will make the rounds at local farmers markets throughout the summer. Many vendors catered to the theme with peach-flavored food, like peach compote and goat cheese burgers and peaches-and-creme crepes, and a peach cocktail mix-off—the highlight of the event—took place at the Midway Pub across the street.
Bartenders from the host restaurant and other top eateries, like the Iberian Pig, Miller Union, Pura Vida and the Sound Table, crafted creative cocktails for judges to sip and score. After much deliberation, Miles Macquarrie of Leon's Full Service was named the winner of Peach Jam 2011's cocktail mix-off. In addition to a $200 prize, Macquarrie's drink will be added to the Midway Pub's menu—and he got some free peaches from Pearson Farm, too. —Jhoni Jackson/Special to Metromix
