I went to Anderson's today. The girl who fixed my plate was very friendly and polite. I have noticed that the staff has been told to put the very minimum on plates and I have noticed a skimpy portion of vegetables. So of course the vegetables were skimped, but she started fixing my meat and put what I felt was ample and worth my $10. This guy, then comes over to her and whispers in her ear that she put too much food on my plate and that the manager would say something to her if he saw that. I could not believe what I was hearing, I have seen this guy plenty of times before and I noticed that he would always whisper something in the server's ear, but I never knew what until now. I was insulted and will not be eating there again. They are penny pinchers.

I have been eating at Anderson Diner for almost a year now, the amount of food that you get is awesome, however my Doctor has told me that my blood pressure is way to high and I know that it is because of the food at Anerson Diner, often the Collards, Dressing and some Meats are very heavy in Salt and not consistant is flavor.
Recently, myself and co-workers have decided to get our meals on take out, due to the Manager Gwen, she has spoken to me in a very indignent way as if I was 10 years old, I have seen her to speak to cashiers the same way actually during one of my visits, I had paid for my meal's then decided that I wanted a desert, when I came back to the resgister the cashier rang my cake up as I handed the cashier my debit card Gwen said, we we we don't take a card fo' under five dollars, you need to get something else or pay with cash and said to the cashier I told you we dont run cards for under five dollars cant you read that sign right their, the cashier turned beet red, I could feel the humilation for her, I spoke up and said on the cashiers defense, mam she had no idea that I was going to use my debit card for this purchase and just minutes ago, I had paid for these two meals with my card so I have already spent nearly 15.00 Gwen then said well she can do it this time but we have a five dollar minimum.
Mr and Mrs Anderson, I do not understand why you let Gwen run your business she is rude to customers and I have seen her be rude to your employees, no wonder you have such a high employee turn over, I would like to say you do have many good employees right now with the exception of Gwen she is running your business with her un-professionalism.

On August 6,2009 I was sitting at a booth getting ready to eat my lunch and I noticed roaches crawling everywhere, I then ask if I could have a refund, manager apologized and tried to refund my money on my visa card. The manager did not know what she was doing and charged my card 5 times sending my account into over draft of -$198.85. The bank decided that they would refund $99 and the diner would be responsible for the other $99.85. I went to the diner with my bank statements and told them the amount the bank refunded and asked them to refund the remaining balance and they refused. When I get my money back I will no longer dine at this establishment.

The staff wears ties, in a soul food resturant? I have frequented Andersons in the last 4 months about twice a week, the good thing is I tell the line servers I need a ticket, then I get my food half off, cool. If you see a lineserver with an afro, be prepared she is very rude and has a smart attitude, The cashiers are busy trying to be a cashier and haveing to get drinks, The waitstaff Ive only seen two, one is big and moves very very slow and the other one must be family because she is a bad waitress, she is not attentive, forget gettin extra napkins, when I need a refill ,she does not pay attention or I will have to get up and go to the cashier, I ask for peppersauce she will say she dont have anymore I will have to wait till she cleans off a table, the last few times Ive been in, their has been a tall lady that walks with a limp, she will come around and give refills, even clean my table, she is courtious and tells me about specials they have she is the only one that makes me feel welcome, I have observed thru a window looking into the kitchen, the cooks do not wear hair nets or gloves, the cook was getting cheese out of a bag and rubbing it into a pan, it was disqusting, he had on dirty looking clothes, preparing this food right next to an open garbage can, I stood and watched him for about 5 minutes, I saw him push down on the garbage and then start back with the pans of cheese without washing his hands. Ive seen this same cook outside grilling, again touching raw meet with his hands not wearing gloves, sitting at a table, touching the meat on the grill with his fingers and not once wear gloves, this is cross catamination and how sallmanella gets spread, That day I found a hair in my collards, the tall (white) lady came over and appologized, offered me another vegtageable, or my money returned, then another lady came over she was a tall (black) lady very hard to understand, she mumbled something and took my plate away and came back and said it wasent a hair, it was a sting off a green bean, I KNOW it was a HAIR, I saw it I touched it, The lady with a limp appologized again and made me feel better about the situation, because she tried to make me happy, the other lady was rude and basically called me a liar. YOU do get alot of food and it taste okay, sometimes to salty there is no consisincey in the way the food taste, one day it is good, the next to salty. Just be causious when eating at Anderson, because the cooks are dirty, do not wear hairnets or gloves and does not wash hands, the line servers can be rude and have attitudes. I don't think since my last visit I will go back for a while I dont want to eat where I see the staff prpareing my food and not washing their hands, I did not want hair in my food.

Anderson's Diner is a tasty little secret hidden near Southlake Mall.
I ordered a standard soul food plate: fried chicken, collard greens, mac & cheese, cornbread, and sweet tea. The fried chicken was the bomb! Homemade, well seasoned, and almost didnt need hot sauce. I was impressed the collards selection -- simmered in salt pork or smoked turkey. Choose your favorite. I got the turkey, they were chopped fresh greens (not canned!) excellent. What can I say about the mac & cheese...except i went back the next day for lunch! It was the cheesy baked kind very flavorful. The cornbread like little golden cornmeal pancakes. They are tender (white cornmeal) with a fine buttermilk flavor. Food is served cafeteria style -- generous portions. Plates start at around $5 bucks. A GREAT value and a wonderful place to take the family for a slow-cooked down home meal.
