Octane Coffee Bar and Lounge
1009 Marietta St - AtlantaIf college students and Americans are spending more time in coffee shops, there's a reason why. Aside from great coffee, Octane on Marietta has weekly "cupping" sessions to educate the community on the coffee bean itself, showcases local artists every month and is also available for hosting birthday parties ... espresso martini drinking parties that is. On a less exciting evening, night owls can be found using the free WiFi or stopping by on their way to the Metropoint Lofts.
City Café
525 10th St. - AtlantaLooking to satisfy your appetite or sweet tooth at three in the morning? Open 24 hours, the extensive menu at the City Café Diner on 10th Street offers portions that are large enough to either share with a friend or save for lunch the next day. The desserts are the talk of the town, with huge slices of cakes with a variety to choose from. Rather than the typical sliver at most restaurants, this diner encourages you to indulge in a variety of cakes to go along with a cup of joe. To top it off, Georgia Tech students get 10 percent off!
Cafe Intermezzo
1845 Peachtree Rd - AtlantaThe dim lights create a calm and welcoming ambiance that allows you to forget about your worries. The round tables are scattered with couples who wish to share intimate space and great late night food along with outbursts of laughter from the small groups of friends out for a late night snack. During the day, the location on Peachtree Street offers free WiFi from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. although they are open and serve food until 2 a.m. The servers weave their way among the tables while other guests wait in line for desserts to go.
Landmark Diner
3652 Roswell Rd NW - AtlantaOther than the fact that this diner is connected to the Georgia State University Commons on Piedmont, this location has less of the diner feel with panther painted walls and flat screen televisions mounted on the supporting pillars. The portions are pretty generous to assist us with our expected “freshmen 15” and well lit whether you’re studying for an exam or simply waking up. And don’t worry, they have accommodated their hours to fit that of college students with extended hours and of course, free WiFi for all customers.
Fellini's Pizza
1991 Howell Mill Rd. - AtlantaThis Howell Mill location has great pizza (by the slice or whole pies) and flaky calzones. The atmosphere is well lit and a great place for friends or families even at 2 a.m. The staff is nice, friendly and laid back, while still providing speedy service for your fresh order. On the corner of Collier Road and Howell Mill, it is just a few blocks from the interstate and usually filled with college students and laid back professionals.
Starbucks
867 Peachtree Street - AtlantaThe Starbucks in the Georgia Tech Bookstore not only serves coffee Atlantans have grown to love, but also hosts community events with author appearances, open mic poetry nights, and of course… textbooks through the bookstore. Conveniently located on Fifth St., this Starbucks was positioned right across the street from Tin Drum, Marble Slab Creamery, and other restaurants.
