When invited to have lunch at Anderson Diner, I was somewhat apprehensive, due to the torture of eating heavy foods and having to return to work and be productive.  But a veggie plate and a glass of lemonade later, I was hooked!

Atmosphere:  Upon entering the restaurant, you are instantly hit by smells from your grandmother’s kitchen.  If you are seeking an aesthetically optimal environment, try another spot.  This place offers diner booths, tables and chairs, with a small floral touch thoughtfully placed on each table.  In addition to the simple ambiance, you will probably run into a person who bears an interesting resemblance to an aunt, uncle or cousin.  The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and patient, as they await a newbie attempting to decide which four vegetables I would like to try. 

Food:  Pork chops, ribs, fried chicken, meatloaf, collard greens, cabbage, okra, field peas with snaps, mac and cheese, yams and much, much more.  After receiving my tray, I am escorted by a friendly young lady, who reminds me of my cousin, with her winning smile and helpful demeanor.  The food was great!  Not overly seasoned or bland.  The lemonade was refreshing and home-made.  The food and drink made you want to go to your grandmother’s house, sit in the rocking chair and rock all your worries away.

Pricing:  The prices are comparable to what you would pay at any lunchtime place.  Also, as a thank you for supporting their local business and an incentive for you to tell more people about them, Anderson Diner has half price daily specials for featured local companies. This has become my once a week guilty pleasure!
