Metromix Dines at the Chef’s Table at the InterContinental Buckhead
After a stint at the InterContinental Chicago, the authentically French Chef Michael Buard has come south and, judging by the spread, it’s a great move. The Chef’s Table is InterContinental’s ultra-exclusive package in a private room where 12 people can enjoy a multi-course meal or 30 people can enjoy an enchanting cocktail party. We were treated to the five-course meal which starts at $100 per person. While it’s certainly a splurge in our book, it’s a very worthy one, unless fine cuisine just doesn’t do it for you.
Our five-course meal began with the Super Royale, Au Pied de Cochon’s ultimate seafood spread of chilled shrimp, Alaskan king crab, stone crabs and assorted oysters. Then there was a wild mushroom soup and salad before the foie gras trio, a trilogy of foie gras creations, including the delicious foie gras ravioli. The steak au poivre style and the pig’s foot finished off the meal. Au Pied de Cochon, if you didn’t know, actually means “the foot of the pig.” Others were afraid an actual pig’s foot would come out but it was just the meat of the pig’s foot and it was quite tasty. In other countries, it’s a delicacy. Desserts were plentiful and sinfully good while the wine pairings were dead-on.
Au Pied de Cochon can be enjoyed 24 hours a day, every day of the week but, when you want to step it up a notch, there’s a lot of fine dining at the Chef’s Table.
