If you have lived in Atlanta for any amount of time, you probably already know about The Cheesecake Factory. They are like an old dear friend you only see occasionally and after every visit, you say "I really miss this, we should do this more often." Well, here is a reminder to get back to The Cheesecake Factory. We visited the Perimeter Mall location and were immediately reminded why this is such an Atlanta staple. As soon as you walk in the door, you get the feeling you are in one of Atlanta's elite restaurants but without the pretentious attitude. The atmosphere can be both romantic or festive depending on the mood you need that evening. The menu is massive, offering every kind of cuisine you could possibly desire. Then, of course, there are the desserts. Our little visit also uncovered a few very cool things that we think you should know. So, let's take a look inside The Cheesecake Factory to re-visit an old friend or make a new one.
Atmosphere: Although located at Perimeter Mall, you still get the feeling that this is a stand alone location. The restaurant sits at the far end of the mall in the corner location, so there is never a shopping center feeling, even on the outdoor patio. On that note, the large patio features umbrella covered tables that are perfect for an afternoon lunch or a romantic evening under the stars.
If you prefer to dine inside, you will be greeted with an unique theme of massive carved columns, warm orange, tan and brown colors with dull blue and red faded art painted tastefully throughout. The vibe has a mixture of Egyptian, Mayan and Spanish cultures. Seating is spacious and diverse. You can choose from casual bar tables with stools, large booths, traditional table seating, or large party seating areas. The soft yellow/orange lighting is flattering and romantic without being so dim you can't see your food or dining partner. In short, think upscale, yet comfortable.
The Food: You could write a book on the food selections available at The Cheesecake Factory. It's not if you can find something you like, but how to pick from so many mouth-watering choices. Make sure you order your drinks right away, choosing your meal may take a while. One of the highlights is the pan seared pork tenderloin covered with pancetta, fontina cheese, roasted red peppers and a mushroom garlic wine sauce. If seafood is your game, try the pan seared albacore. It is seared rare with shallots, garlic, red chiles, cilantro, wasabi pesto and a spicy soy-ginger sauce. Portions are large and are reasonably priced between $15-$25.
Now that you finally decided on your meal, it is time for dessert. This will not be easy either. With almost 50 desserts to choose from you may just have to order a few and take some home. For first timers, you should try the 30th Anniversary Cheesecake. This tasty treat has a chocolate cake bottom, with a couple layers of their original cheesecake filling and chocolate cake, topped with a chocolate dollop and chocolate truffle shavings on the back. Yum!
Drinks: The Cheesecake Factory offers a full bar and then some. You can choose from the extensive wine and beer list or get your favorite margarita, mojito or frozen drink. The real treat here is their specialty martinis. House favorites are the sour apple, red raspberry and Asian pear.
Did you know this? Every six months, The Cheesecake Factory introduces eight to ten new menu items. They have also designed a healthy weight watchers menu. You may know about their famous Sunday brunch, but did you know you can order eggs, omelettes and other breakfast items all day, every day? Hmmm, did not know that.
