Inman's Park's newest hip eatery, Parish is a New-Orleans inspired bistro and market. Housed in an 1890's terminal warehouse, Concentric's Bob Amick and Todd Rushing have restored the building to its original grandeur and transformed the space into a multi-level "Bourbon Street" style restaurant. The top floor is the dining room. It's casual chic, no white tablecloths here. There aren't even menus so be sure to position yourself where you can see the chalkboard.
Menu: Chef Timothy Magee has conjured up many Crescent City-inspired dishes. They're different though, don't expect typical cajun cuisine. You won't find crawfish etoufee, jambalaya or even rice and beans on this menu. While the dishes pull from the Creole and Cajun cuisines they also blend French, Spanish,
French Caribbean and African flavors and locally grown ingredients. Bubba Gump would be proud of their signature dish, the open-faced Shrimp Burger. Other unusual menu items are Oyster Loaf BLT and Seaboard Braised Pork Cheeks.
Brunch: The New Orleans inspired brunch features a live Jazz piano from an
antique upright. Couple that with corn flake encrusted french toast, beignets and some clever drinks like the Red Fairy, a Bloody Mary made with Absinthe instead of Vodka and you may forget all about Cafe DuMonde.
To Market: On the lower level is the market. Everything from flowers to wine to pastries is available. For the the time-challenged among us, "Parish To Go" has meals prepared every day for quick pick-up. Expect sandwiches like the Brie Grilled Cheese with homemade onion jam or the Ferdie with hot roast beef.
On this level, the vibe is competely different. Forget Bourbon Street, think Starbucks. There's free WIFI, comfy couches, a community table and a dog friendly patio. Street parking is difficult here, but there's a valet on-site.
