Is it premature to hail this newly arrived film as the second-best rock doc of all time? Maybe, but we’re willing to go out on a limb on this one. Director Davis Guggenheim ingeniously weaves together the stories of three of rock’s most iconic guitarists—Jimmy Page, the Edge and Jack White—and, through them, makes a film that celebrates the endless versatility and power of the electric guitar itself. Worth seeing just for the little-kid looks of awe that pass across the faces of White and the Edge when Jimmy Page starts showing them how to play the riff from “Whole Lotta Love.”
