The buzz: Former child star Bow Wow (born Shad Moss) began his recorded career at age 13. He’s now 22 years old, fond of calling himself Lamborghini Moss, and raps about some very adult subjects on his sixth album, “New Jack City II.”

The verdict: Sure, he’s an accomplished guy who has sold millions of records and enjoys a budding career as an actor, but Bow Wow can’t seem to stop insistently bragging throughout this album about getting his grown man on and about his wealth. It works and feels like a confident swagger when teaming with T.I. for “Been Doin’ This,” but it’s most ridiculous when Bow Wow lets the ladies know he’s got a “Pole in My Basement,” among other material possessions. The disc ends up amounting to little more than a minorly exhausting barrage of boasting.

Did you know? Snoop Dogg gave Bow Wow his nickname when Moss was just seven years old.
