Now: In his seventh season of saving the world from terrorist attacks as Jack Bauer on “24” [pictured right], it’s clear that Sutherland is not your stereotypical hero. He shoots first and asks questions later, and is always willing to consider a potpourri of torture methods to get the information he wants.
Then: As Ace in Rob Reiner’s Stephen King adaptation “Stand By Me” [pictured left], Sutherland was the ringleader of the local thugs, threatening to slice the throat of a boy he hates until a gunshot sends him scampering.
Better when? The shift into TV has been good for Sutherland, and he’s got the Emmy to prove it.
