Atlanta's people to watch in 2009
Music and entertainment
Name: Eileen Tilson
Age: 25
Neighborhood: Buckhead
What pays the bills? Manager of Expectations for JustWest Entertainment, Inc.
Describe your job: Head of Public Relations and Tour Press for JustWest Entertainment. I help create public awareness for our managed bands and a few outside clients through creative media placement. In addition, I work closely with our team to execute other entertainment related projects nationwide.
Your passion project: The music and entertainment business is my passion, and to further that passion in 2009, I am working on a charity project called "Mind for Music." JustWest Entertainment has teamed up with internationally acclaimed producer, Simon Illa, and The Hard Rock Cafe for this very worthwhile cause. Since music is a creation of the mind, our goal is to put much needed music technology in the hands of physically disabled students that have the "Mind For Music" but cannot create their vision by playing physical instruments.
Where would you get “flashed” by Metromix? Concerts! The Earl, Smith's Olde Bar, Tabernacle, The Loft, etc...
What’s next for you in 2009? My role as part of the JustWest Entertainment Team is to increase our global position in the entertainment industry. To this end, we will team up with well-known Atlanta photographer, Matt Odom, to launch Studio 1*FIVE*0, a photography/video studio and special events venue for the entertainment industry.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Sitting at the Grammys watching our bands win awards and earning the position of Managing Partner of JustWest Entertainment.
What is your favorite restaurant and why? El Myr in Little Five Points. There is always such a great vibe in there, it's like my own personal "Cheers." When I moved back from England, it was the first place I wanted to go. Margaritas and homemade guacamole make the world go round.
Who inspires you? I have always respected women in a male-dominated industry that are kicking ass, and I am fortunate to have my own group of Charlie's Angels, made up of Leslie Fram (WRXP 101.9), Michelle Rhea Caplinger (NARAS), and Lisa Love (Georgia Music Hall of Fame) who watch out for me and keep me on the right path. These three women are dominating in their fields, while still remaining humble and graceful...
What five songs would make up your life’s playlist?
Can I do albums?
"In Rainbows,” Radiohead
"Grace,” Jeff Buckley
"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,” Beatles
"Mommy's Little Monster,” Social Distortion
“The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” David Bowie
What is an Atlanta event in 2009 that you will not miss?
Musical Mayhem Presents "The Traveling Rock Show and Burlesque Review" starring the Hot Rods and the Pretty Things Peep Show at the Loft in May 2009.
