Local restaurants competed for the title of best burger
Restaurants from all over Atlanta duked it out at the Battle of the Burgers held in Virginia-Highland. There were crazy concoctions from places like the Nook (who included macaroni and cheese in their burger), plus entries from Grindhouse Killer Burgers, Park Tavern, US Cafe and other go-to burger joints around town.
A Johnny Cash tribute band rocked the meadow while people chowed down. The burger competition was a benfefit, with 100 percent of the day's proceeds going to Embraced, a nonprofit organization that helps distribute gently used medical devices to people who need them.
Deckard’s American Tavern won 'Best Classic Burger', Atkins Park won the title of 'Best Veggie Burger' and The Nook won 'Best Contemporary Burger'. The 'Peoples’ Choice' Award went to Farm Burger.
