Atlanta Braves fans and their pets spend an afternoon at the ballpark
On Sunday, May 3, plenty of animal lovers brought their dogs to the Turner Field to cheer on the Atlanta Braves. The first Bark in the Park game of 2009 was a roaring—make that barking—success. The pets were dressed in their best athletic gear, from baseball caps to team jerseys, and, for the most part, were a well-behaved set. Though the concession stands weren't selling dog food, there were enough water bowls to go around. Dogs could also take advantage of on-site vet services, dog pools and cool water misters.
For those that missed the May 3 game, an additional Bark in the Park will be held on Sept. 6. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit non-profit organizations that help animals in need. Since the first Bark in the Park was held in 2006, more than 5,200 Braves fans and 2,400 dogs have attended the dog friendly games.
