Atlanta Grammy party
All eyes were on the W Atlanta Downtown on Jan. 29 as The Recording Academy Atlanta Chapter hosted a VIP reception saluting Georgia's 51st Annual Grammy nominees. Dallas Austin, Big Boi, Anthony David, Mr. Bangladesh, Janelle Monae, T.I., Drumma Boy, Kendrick "WyldCard" Dean, After Edmund, Sugarland's Kristian Bush, The Blind Boys of Alabama and many others enjoyed food and drinks as big-screen TVs replayed memorable Grammy performances featuring Georgia's own. The event was sponsored by Delta, Heineken and SunTrust Sports and Entertainment Specialty Group.
When the reception closed down, it was off to the 16th floor for the Wetbar Lounge to, well, lounge and mingle some more before kicking the party up another notch downstairs in the Living Room. With the floor-to-ceiling windows making the Atlanta streets as much of a guest as those on the inside, DJ Santiago Páramo's lively spins ensured an even greater time. The 51st annual Grammy ceremony on Feb. 8 may decide which Georgians will bring home the coveted Grammy this year, but in Atlanta there are no losers. While the economy may be shaky, Atlanta's music scene remains as rich as ever.
